Suboxone Detox, Rapid Detox, Opiate Detox

In the recovery process from opiate addiction Suboxone detox is one method of rapid detox that is commonly used.  Patients detoxing from opiates will be placed on Suboxone, which is an opiate antagonist, in order to block the opiate receptors in the person’s brain so they can no longer feel the “high” that they are addicted to.  People with opiate addiction are encouraged to find counseling or a substance abuse treatment program once the rapid detox process is completed.  The detox from opiates can be extremely difficult and even after the detox a person can go into opiate withdrawal.  After the first few hours up to the first two days, depending on the severity of the addiction, the patient wakes up without withdrawal symptoms or pain.  Another benefit is being aware of the pain that occurred during the detox.

There are many conventional detoxification procedures that require a painful and debilitating withdrawal process. Rapid opiate detox is a relatively painless way for people suffering from addiction to opiates.  Once the rapid opiate detoxification has been completed the body and mind are cleansed of all of the harmful chemicals and toxins contained in these drugs.  This offers an opportunity to make better decisions and have a clear mind and body without relying on opiates to help make choices.

Rapid detox is a medically supervised hospital procedure to rapidly detoxify the body from opiates and other substances (drugs). Rapid detox is gaining popularity as an effective tool in the rehabilitation and recovery process. While under sedation, the patient undergoes an accelerated procedure that blocks the brain's opiate receptors from any opiates. Additional medications are administered to accelerate the physical reactions to the rapid withdrawal while the patient is unconscious.

Opiates are very dangerous and addictive narcotics. Drugs that are included in the opiate family include synthetic drugs such as those used for pain relief and have suppressive qualities as well as naturally occurring opiates such as opium poppy.  Heroin which is an opiate that is semi-synthetic comes from the opium poppy comes as a white or brown powder, but can also come in the form of a black, tar-ish substance.  This drug can be smoked, sniffed or used intravenously.

The most famous type of rapid detox is called the Waismann Method.  This method is also called “Neuro-Regulation”, which is done in the intensive care units at hospitals.  The Waismann Method works by cleaning out certain receptors in a person’s brain so that the narcotics leave the body.  This procedure happens while the patient is under the use of anesthesia.  Using this method is effective and the patient does not feel the painful withdrawal that happens during the usual detox process and it is much shorter than a traditional detox.

Opiate detox reverses a patient’s physical opiate dependency without unnecessary suffering, fear, or shame. Rapid detox also eliminates the need to spend months in hospitals or drug rehab programs.
