Kentamine Addiction Rehab

Introduction:

Nowadays, many of our young teenagers are getting involved into the bad habit of addiction. Though it is not clear to many, addiction is becoming a widespread problem. It is becoming a serious problem not only to our government but in our society as well. Drug addiction, as we all know, has already caused many tragedies to our society. Addiction is leading our society to fall down slowly but surely. It is spreading like cancer in our society and stabbing happy homes like a double-edged sword. In most cases, drugs are involved in many crimes like robbery, rape, hijacking, accidents, and even murder. It is also the cause of many broken homes and families. Crime rate in our country continues to increase because of drugs. However, irresponsible people are not doing anything to stop it. The wide illegal selling of various drugs in the black market and in the streets continues to operate, even though our law enforcers have already tried to stop it. People keep coming back to their cravings for drugs. The big question is, "why?"

Addiction is a habit wherein a person is becoming completely powerless to stop it. It is a physical craving for a certain substance, combined with mental obsession. A person who is being addicted with a certain drug sometimes is not aware that he/she is slowly becoming an addict or dependent to the substance he/she is using. However, science has already proven that in any stage of addiction there is an equivalent amount of treatment. Yes! Addiction and drug dependence can be treated. With the help of the right facilities, this bad habit of addiction can be treated and medicated.

One of the drugs being abused today is Ketamine. Ketamine is a general anaesthetic drug that was intended for the use of humans and animals. However, it is being abused by drug addicts who don’t have full knowledge about its proper use and its side effects.

History of Ketamine:

Ketamine was also known for its various street names such as Special K, Ket, K, Green, Super C, Vitamin K, Super Acid, Special LA Coke, Baby Food, God, Jet, Honey Oil, and Gas. It was first introduced in the early 1960s. Ketamine comes in two forms: white powder and clear liquid. Ketamine can be used by means of snorting it up the nose, swallowing or injecting. It was formulated because of an effort to find a substitute for Phencyclidine (a dissociative drug which was formerly used as a surgical anesthesia). This drug produces a side effect not much different from any other addictive drugs. In the early years of the Vietnam War, Ketamine was used by soldiers as a means of treating moderate pain in the battlefield. In the year 1965, Ketamine addiction became popular. Up to this point in time, addiction to Ketamine continues to grow.

Use of Ketamine:

Even though Ketamine is an addictive drug, it is also a highly useful drug in the hands of an expert. Various indispensable usage of Ketamine is enumerated in what follows.

Ketamine, because of its effects as an anaesthetic drug is, up to now, being used for minor surgeries and operations. Furthermore:

Addiction to Ketamine:

In the hands of an abuser, Ketamine addiction takes place. Ketamine is classified with Schedule 2 drugs, because of its addictive components. Over the past few years, Ketamine addiction became widespread in places like San Diego, Miami and New York. Because of its availability in veterinary clinics and in the streets, many are being hooked into it. Teenagers often use Ketamine for recreational purposes. Little do they know that, like any addictive drug, it can eventually cause fatal illness and problems to their bodies. If addiction to Ketamine cannot be stopped, death may take place. The following are the side effects experienced with Ketamine addiction:

  1. dizziness
  2. euphoria
  3. hallucinations
  4. hypertension
  5. overdose
  6. coma
  7. weak muscles
  8. circulatory depression
  9. cardiac arrest
  10. palpitation
  11. weakness
  12. sedation
  13. respiratory arrest
  14. death

Rehabilitation:

As stated above, addiction to Ketamine can be treated in many ways. It can be treated with the help of the right facilities, such as Malibu Horizon. This kind of facility offers a very convenient way to get treated, the method known as detoxification. Almost all drug dependents and addicts find themselves helpless because of the processes they are going through in the rehabilitation. In most cases, different rehabilitation processes, aside from detoxification, lead to unwanted withdrawal symptoms that don’t encourage the ones going to rehabilitation. However, detoxification, a process wherein the removal of a certain toxic substance in our body takes place, is said to be the most comfortable way of getting treated. Detoxification involves the use of another drug to counteract the effects of a certain drug being abused. The drug used is often a milder but similar chemical to the one being detoxified. It can also help to minimize the fatal withdrawal effects that might take place in our body. To make it short, this method is by far the most comfortable way to get treated. Unlike in the other methods of treatment, with this method you can still live your life like normal people do, and keep going to school, to your office, to your friends; you can even live with your family, like nothing is happening at all.
